For the 8th consecutive year, LuxairGroup employees have become involved in the 'Donation Month' campaign of the Luxembourg Red Cross.

Throughout the month of April, around 230 flight attendants will be collecting money on-board in solidarity with vulnerable populations supported by the Red Cross.

Speaking on behalf of the cabin crew of Luxair Luxembourg Airlines, Mélanie Alimonte, Head of Cabin Crew, commented: "I'm glad that Luxair has partnered with the Luxembourg Red Cross to help people in need and I am especially proud that we can lend a hand to Donation Month".

Donation Month 2016, or 'Mois du Don' in French, is being held under the motto 'Merci fir Är Mënschlechkeet' as a means of thanking the resident population for opening their doors and donating money to help those in need both in Luxembourg and abroad. The slogan is also dedicated to the some 2,000 volunteers travelling the country door-to-door during the thirty days of April.

The Luxembourg Red Cross explained the importance of Donation Month as a significant income source which helps support services and activities that do not receive any public funsing. Examples include 'Croix-Rouge Butték', the organisation's network of social supermarkets which enabled 4,101 people to purchase essentials at a lower price; summer camps which last year brought together around 300 children from disadvantaged backgrounds; the deployment of staff to the island of Lesbos; and assisted therapy with animals for children with behavioural disorders run by the Kannerhaus Jean Therapeutic Centre.

Members of the public can continue to support the Luxembourg Red Cross in its activities by opening their doors to volunteers until 30 April 2016, visiting www.moisdudon.lu or ringing 2755.
