Luxembourgish guitarist and composer Veda Bartringer will release her new album, Rise and Shine, on Saturday 6 June 2026, with an official release concert taking place the same day at the Philharmonie Luxembourg in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

For the project, titled Veda & the String Machine, Veda Bartringer introduces a string quartet alongside her jazz band. According to the artist, the album was inspired by film music, orchestral arrangements and string projects by musicians such as Snarky Puppy and Petros Klampanis.

The album features seven original compositions blending classical music and jazz, with Syrian-French flautist Naïssam Jalal appearing on the title track Rise And Shine and Belgian pianist Margaux Vranken featured on Rue de l’Étuve.

According to the press release, the compositions reflect autobiographical moments and different stages of Veda Bartringer’s life.

The album opens with Ancestors, described as a piece expressing gratitude towards previous generations and “the invisible threads that connect past, present, and future”.

The Butterfly Tree, originally released on the 2022 EP The Butterfly Effect, was rearranged for strings for the new album and explores themes of renewal, transformation and personal growth.

Inspired by Brussels, where Veda Bartringer previously studied and lived, Rue de l’Étuve combines personal memories with what the musician describes as a “vibrant urban portrait”.

Other tracks include Lost In A Toybox, inspired by childhood memories and the sound of a music box, and Farewell, which addresses emotions connected to the end of a relationship.

The title composition, Rise And Shine, dedicated to Naïssam Jalal, combines “irregular rhythms with a lyrical melody” intended to evoke hope and resilience.

The album closes with Too Much Coffee, described as reflecting “the exhilarating rush of caffeine” before transitioning into more atmospheric passages.

While Veda Bartringer’s previous album, Deep Space Adventure (2024), drew inspiration from NASA texts and photographs, Rise and Shine focuses on personal experiences and emotions.

A Luxembourgish guitarist and composer active in the Luxembourgish and Belgian jazz scenes, she studied classical piano, guitar and singing before completing a Master’s degree in jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 2022. She has led the Veda Bartringer Quartet since 2020, released the album Deep Space Adventure in 2024 and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Luxembourg Music Awards the same year. She has also collaborated on several international and multidisciplinary projects, including performances with the Philharmonie Luxembourg and Belgian radio productions.
