On Thursday 4 December 2025, Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg (JEL) reported on the fifteenth edition of the Engineering Trainee Days which took place from Monday 3 to Friday 7 November 2025.
JEL said the event, organised in collaboration with the Association of Engineers and Scientists of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Childhood and Youth, gave 82 students the chance to spend two days working alongside engineers and scientists during their autumn half-term. This year, 31 companies and research institutions welcomed the young participants.
Gilbert Engel, a board member since Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg was founded, commented: "The Engineering Trainee Days offer a unique experience. These two days of work experience provide an opportunity for young people, and they also give engineers a chance to share their passion for engineering."
According to JEL, the official closing event took place on Tuesday 2 December 2025 and brought together students, their parents, secondary school representatives and partner companies and institutions. The event featured a talk by Kuldeep Barad, PhD in Engineering and Senior Systems Engineer at Redwire Space.
In his speech, Kuldeep Barad discussed decision-making systems and the art of structuring programming. He reflected: “In a rapidly changing world, advice can quickly become outdated. It is therefore essential to guide students with timeless principles that help them grow, whatever the circumstances. In my talk, I wanted to show how young trainees can navigate a complex world.”
JEL noted that the ETD gave students a unique opportunity to explore new professions and sectors, learn about career paths and understand the demands of the professional world, and that the two days of immersion allowed students to observe team dynamics, familiarise themselves with the technical challenges engineers and scientists face and appreciate the importance of collaboration, communication and precision in professional success.
Albigot-Tennenhäuser, mother of two students who participated, said: "ArcelorMittal welcomed them under extraordinary conditions, organising a dozen sessions on cutting-edge topics. We were all impressed […] and the children were genuinely delighted. Even my son discovered industrial careers that we would not have known how to guide him towards. It was an incredible gift, offered both by the company and by Jonk Entrepreneuren. Thank you very much."
