On Wednesday 10 December 2025, Anefore, Luxembourg’s national agency for European programmes in education, training, youth and sport, held its annual conference at the Lycée Hubert Clément in Esch-sur-Alzette.
The event brought together nearly 70 beneficiaries and partners of the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes, the agency noted.
Christine Pegel, Director of the National Agency, highlighted what she described as the “excellent” 2025 selection results: more than €10 million were allocated to projects selected under the 2025 Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps calls. In total, 5,869 mobility activities will be carried out within projects funded under the 2025 calls, representing 778 additional mobilities compared with the previous year.
According to Anefore, an Erasmus+ project in the school education sector received the 2025 European Innovative Teaching Award: the project “V.I.C. – Values Identity Culture” of the Lycée Hubert Clément Esch. The project was recognised for what the agency described as an “innovative and inclusive approach” aimed at promoting European identity among pupils. By combining intercultural exchanges, creative workshops and critical reflection, it enabled pupils to explore and adopt European values, thereby strengthening their civic engagement and sense of shared belonging.
Anefore noted that Jean Theis, Director of the Lycée Hubert Clément Esch, and project coordinator Michel Fabeck shared their experiences during the conference, highlighting the initiative’s impact across the school community.
The agency added that three eTwinning projects carried out by teachers in Luxembourg received the 2025 national eTwinning Quality Label, which recognises teachers who have implemented high-quality eTwinning projects achieving national-level excellence.
The Lycée Edward Steichen Clervaux was honoured with the national prize for the most active eTwinning school during the 2024–2025 school year.
In addition, Caroline Reviriot, Programme Director at Wecitizens, together with Badr Chimi, a young volunteer, presented the results of their solidarity project “CLUB EUROPE Luxembourg City”. This project was designed by young people to address a crucial need: enabling young people to better understand the European Union, its values and how it functions, while offering them genuine opportunities for civic engagement.
The conference concluded with an announcement by Marguerite Krier, who has served as President of Anefore for many years. She stated that she would step down from her position and will now devote her energy to her new role as a school mediator.
