On Wednesday 22 January 2026, the Luxembourg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity announced the signing of a new agreement as part of the Green Events project.
According to the ministry, the Green Events project has entered a new phase with the signing of an agreement by the Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes.
The ministry said Green Events continues its commitment to sustainable events that respect resources and actively contribute to waste reduction. Its objective is to support event organisers in implementing environmentally friendly practices.
From 2026, project management of the initiative will be undertaken by Ëmweltberodung Lëtzebuerg ASBL (EBL). To strengthen its team in this mission, EBL has recruited two experienced environmental advisers who will coordinate Green Events in collaboration with co-manager of the project, SuperDrecksKëscht, a long‑established national initiative in Luxembourg focused on waste management, prevention, recycling and the circular economy.
The ministry said that its new collaboration agreement with EBL will serve to strengthen and develop the project and will draw on the innovative spirit and recognised expertise of the association in environmental consultancy, particularly with Luxembourgish municipalities.
EBL has committed to conducting strategic reflection on the direction of the project, to propose a framework that increases its visibility and to include a growing number of actors in order to stimulate actions within the circular economy.
