The Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) has reported that the contract of Women’s National Team coach Daniel Santos has been terminated with immediate effect following serious facts brought to the federation’s attention, with the decision taken by the FLF Board of Directors on Wednesday 11 March 2026.

According to the FLF, several reports referred to inappropriate messages sent by the coach to certain players of the team. The federation stated that such behaviour, occurring within a relationship of authority and responsibility, is contrary to its ethical values and the framework of respect required within the organisation.

"As soon as these elements were brought to our attention, we acted without delay in order to protect the players concerned and to preserve the integrity of the sporting environment. The testimonies collected and the clear loss of trust expressed by the players made any further collaboration impossible. Consequently, the coach has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect," the FLF stated.

The FLF reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful and professional environment for all players and members of the sporting community, emphasising that behaviour undermining dignity cannot be tolerated and that support will continue to be provided to the players concerned.

Daniel Santos had served as head coach of the Luxembourg women’s national football team since May 2020. In 2025, Luxembourg secured promotion to League B of the UEFA Women’s Nations League 2024/25 after topping their League C group with sixteen points from five wins and one draw. For this achievement, the team was voted Best Team of the Year last season by the Committee of the Luxembourg Sports Press Association (sportspress.lu).
