On Friday 16 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported it had received a total of 1,034 applications as part of its 2026/2027 recruitment campaign.
Of these, 660 applications are for the B1 treatment group, 341 for C1 and 33 for A1.
The police said it should be noted that these figures represent the total number of applications, including candidates who have not yet passed the General Aptitude Test (EAG) or whose application files are not yet complete. Candidates who still need to take the General Aptitude Test (EAG) have until 29 October 2026 to do so. Passing this test is a prerequisite for proceeding with the recruitment process.
“These figures once again demonstrate the strong interest in the various career opportunities within the Grand Ducal Police and continue the trend of recruitment efforts undertaken in recent years,” said the Grand Ducal Police in a press statement.
Next Steps in the Recruitment Process
For the candidates concerned, the recruitment process will continue over the coming weeks and months, with the various stages of the special examination.
The special examination for the B1 and C1 treatment groups comprises three main stages:
⁃ an elimination sports test constitutes the first stage of the special examination;
⁃ after passing this test, candidates take standardised, computer-based tests, including assessments in French and German, as well as a general knowledge test;
⁃ following this second stage, an interim ranking is established based on the results obtained in these tests.
Candidates selected on this basis are then invited to take part in the third stage of the special examination, which comprises an elimination psychological test and an interview in Luxembourgish.
Candidates who pass the special examination may ultimately be admitted to the training programme, subject to the number of vacancies available and their ranking, as well as meeting other requirements, including an examination by the occupational health physician and a background and character assessment. The start of training at the Grand Duke Guillaume Police Academy, marking the beginning of the probationary period for trainee officers, is scheduled for spring 2026.
In view of the high number of applications received, the police said it welcomed the interest shown in police careers and thanked all candidates for their participation, wishing them every success in the next stages of the recruitment process.
