On Thursday 26 February 2026, the Luxembourg Ministry of Gender Equality and Diversity and the Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy Service of the Ministry of State, hosted the “TechTalks4Girls” event at Kinepolis in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
The event, which took place in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and the National Centre for Continuing Vocational Training, brought together pupils aged fourteen to nineteen and their teachers with the aim of enabling young people to meet women working in digital professions and to discover the diversity of pathways, roles and opportunities offered by the technology sector.
Luxembourg’s Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, Yuriko Backes, and Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, responsible for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue, opened the event by highlighting the Luxembourg Government’s commitment to reducing the gender gap in STEM studies and digital professions, in line with the objectives of the European Union’s Digital Decade 2030. They noted that one of the key challenges is to increase the presence of women among ICT specialists and to ensure young girls have better access to the skills and professions of the future.
In a video address, Minister Backes, emphasised: “When girls see women on stage, holding leadership positions, speaking confidently about technology, something powerful happens: stereotypes begin to fade and new possibilities emerge. This is why initiatives like this are so important. They do not merely talk about change. They shape it. The future of technology should reflect our society: diverse, inclusive and bold.”
Minister Margue added: “This day gave pupils the opportunity to meet female role models in digital professions, a crucial lever for combating stereotypes and building confidence. The speakers shared their work, the challenges they faced and how they found their path, offering a real and inspiring insight into these careers. Digital technology opens up varied and meaningful opportunities and we want to encourage every pupil to explore them actively. This event highlighted the diversity of digital pathways available to young people, particularly those who do not always have the chance to interact with professionals in the sector.”
Julie Trinco (Amazon), Manuela Abreu (Onboard Advisory), Avanti Sharma (Workshop4Me), Ala Presenti (Moniflo), Arnaud Clément (ABBL), Emilie Allaert (Standard Chartered) and Inès Baer (Luxinnovation) then shared short and inspiring testimonies, illustrating the diversity of careers in the digital sector, allowing pupils to explore varied career paths, ask questions freely and find sources of inspiration.
