Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has reported that since Monday 2 March 2026, tens of thousands of people have been fleeing their towns and homes following relentless Israeli bombardments across several regions of Lebanon.

MSF teams stated that they have witnessed large waves of displacement, major traffic jams and people fleeing with very few belongings, seeking safety elsewhere.

Although Israeli airstrikes have continued over the past fifteen months, despite the ceasefire agreement concluded in November 2024, this escalation marks the most intense period since then, placing even greater pressure on civilians who have already endured multiple waves of insecurity and displacement, noted MSF.

Our teams are mobilising to adapt our activities and assess how to respond to the emerging needs of displaced people, while ensuring the continuity of care within our regular projects in Lebanon. We are in contact with the relevant authorities to provide additional support where necessary,” commented Lou Cormack, MSF Coordinator in Lebanon.

In Lebanon, MSF currently runs clinics in Beirut and in the Baalbek-Hermel region, supports the Ministry of Health Centres in Tripoli and deploys mobile clinics in the Akkar region. In southern Lebanon, MSF has also operated mobile clinics since the 2024 escalation.

Maryam Srour MSF Communications Officer in Lebanon recorded a voice note as she fled her home with her family: “It is almost exactly like one year and three months ago. People fled under the threat of flames. There were loud explosions sirens and screams. Once again we witness this endless cycle of suffering that strikes civilians who are simply trying to live their lives,” she said.
