On Monday 15 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported several drink and drug driving incidents over the weekend, issuing multiple provisional driving bans.

According to the report, at around 02:00 on Sunday 14 June 2026, police spotted a vehicle swerving across the road and repeatedly hitting the kerb on Rue de Neudorf in Esch-sur-Alzette. As the driver tested positive for alcohol, police confiscated the driving licence, filed a report and did not allow the vehicle to continue its journey.

About one hour later, officers noticed another vehicle driving erratically on Rue de Luxembourg in Esch-sur-Alzette. The driver also tested positive for alcohol. Police issued an immediate driving ban and immobilised the vehicle.

Later that day, at around 20:00, police received reports of a road traffic accident on the A6 near the Croix de Cessange interchange, where a vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof. According to the report, the driver lost control of the vehicle while exiting the A6 for the A4 and crashed into the safety barrier. The driver was taken to hospital and police issued a provisional driving ban on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

In a separate incident the same night, a police patrol in Grevenmacher noticed a vehicle parked on an unpaved road. Officers detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the driver, whose roadside drug test returned a positive result. Police issued a provisional driving ban.
