The Grand Ducal Police have reported the arrest of a suspected shoplifter in Luxembourg City following an incident on Tuesday 14 July 2026.

According to the police, the suspect initially entered a shop in the morning before leaving shortly afterwards. When he returned a short time later and was stopped by a security guard, he pushed the guard aside and fled.

Police said the man subsequently returned to the shop, stole a bottle of perfume and fled again. A security guard pursued him and caught up with him near a shopping centre, where the suspect allegedly struck the guard on the head during a struggle before escaping once more.

A police patrol located the suspect a short time later in a nearby establishment. Acting on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, he was arrested and brought before an investigating judge ​on the morning of Wednesday 15 July 2026.
