Police Report 3 People Taken Into Custody Due to Drunken Behaviour

On Friday 25 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that several individuals were detained due to incidents of severe intoxication across Luxembourg between Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September.

According to the police, at approximately 17:45 on Thursday they were called to an altercation at Place du Théâtre in Luxembourg-Ville. A man had attracted attention because he had attempted to hit another person with a glass bottle. Police officers initially managed to defuse the dispute at the scene. Due to his intoxicated state, the man was instructed to leave the area. When he failed to comply and became increasingly uncooperative, he was taken into police custody after undergoing a medical examination.

That same evening, the police were called in another case involving a person in the emergency department of a hospital in Esch-sur-Alzette. A heavily intoxicated man was being uncooperative with hospital staff and, following a medical examination, was also taken into police custody. During a subsequent body search, a small quantity of cocaine was found and confiscated.

A third incident took police officers around 11:20 on Rue du Brill in Foetz, where a physical altercation had initially been reported. Two people were found at the scene. During the subsequent investigation, a heavily intoxicated woman became increasingly agitated and refused either to leave the area or to be taken home. Due to her condition and behaviour, she was also taken into police custody after undergoing a medical examination.

In all three cases, the relevant reports were drawn up.
