The Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) has reported an "unusual" festive incident at Luxembourg Airport in Findel.

On the morning of Thursday 18 December 2025, a fully loaded cargo sleigh made an unexpected landing in the Kiss and Fly parking area in front of the airport terminal.

According to the ACL, difficult weather conditions during the approach prevented a landing on the designated runway. During turbulence, the sleigh reportedly lost its animal propulsion, making any further flight impossible.

The ACL said it took over the handling of the situation. The pilot and the sleigh were transported to Bertrange. To ensure the onward transport of the cargo, the ACL quickly provided a loan delivery van. Initial reports indicate that this ensured the timely delivery of the shipment.

The reindeer were spotted shortly after landing in a park in Bettembourg. They were unharmed and received appropriate care.

The sleigh is being inspected and repaired at the ACL's Diagnostic Center in Bertrange.

The ACL concluded by wishing everyone a happy Christmas.
