Luxembourg-born pianist Cathy Krier will release a new album on CAvi-music on 15 September 2017.
Pianist Cathy Krier, born in Luxembourg in 1985 and now known internationally, has announced the release of her new album featuring the two Books of Images by Claude Debussy, as well as his Masques and Karol Szymanowski’s Masques.
This new album sees Krier go in a different direction from her two previous albums, where she juxtaposed Rameau and Ligeti and Liszt vs. Berg/Schoenberg. The upcoming release now takes the opposite path.
At first glance, Debussy and Szymanowski seem to have much in common, with both composers even using the same title in French: Masques (masks). Cathy Krier affirms, nevertheless, that she is much more interested in the differences one can observe between these two works from the same period.
Cathy Krier’s next concert will be at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele in Germany on 9 September 2017, just days before the release of her new album.
More details on the album to follow.
