On Friday 24 October 2025, Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, announced that between Saturday 1 and Sunday 9 November 2025 multiple lines will be impacted by work being carried out to maintain and update the rail network infrastructure.
According to the CFL, the works will primarily support projects related to the removal of two level crossings and the connection of the Howald interchange to the future new Luxembourg – Bettembourg line (NBS). To complete these works, no trains will run in either direction between Luxembourg and Bettembourg, as well as between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck, and Luxembourg and Diekirch.
The CFL will provide replacement bus services on the following routes.
Luxembourg – Ettelbruck – Troisvierges – Gouvy Line
Saturday 1 and Sunday 9 November 2025 (inclusive): No trains between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and between Luxembourg and Diekirch
Replacement bus services:
Bus L10 Limpertsberg (Boulevard Paul Eyschen) – Ettelbruck
• Departures every 30 minutes
• Easily accessible by tram (Theater stop)
• Serves all train stops between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and Diekirch
Bus L11 (direct) Luxembourg (Rocade) – Mersch – Ettelbruck
• Peak hours: departures every 15 minutes / Off-peak: every 30 minutes
• During peak hours, some journeys do not serve Ettelbruck. Passengers travelling to or from Ettelbruck are advised to use Bus L12 during these times
Bus L12 (direct) Luxembourg (Rocade) – Ettelbruck
• Peak hours only: departures every 15 minutes
Bus L13 Kirchberg (Luxexpo) – Ettelbruck via Mersch
• Monday to Friday: departures every 30 minutes
• Easily accessible by tram (Luxexpo stop)
The CFL said that due to adverse weather and heavy rainfall, additional maintenance and cleaning works will be carried out on the railway installations between Mersch and Ettelbruck during the All Saints’ holidays. These extra works explain why the planned track closure, originally between Luxembourg and Mersch, has been extended to cover Luxembourg – Ettelbruck/Diekirch.

• From Saturday 1 and Sunday 9 November 2025 (inclusive): No trains between Luxembourg and Bettembourg
