On Monday 12 October 2026, Luxembourg's statistical institute, STATEC, published its latest report on salaried employment in the Grand Duchy.

According to STATEC, quarterly growth in salaried employment remained moderate in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, with an increase of 0.4% compared to the first quarter (Q1) of 2026. Over one year, salaried employment grew by 1.6%, the same annual rate recorded in the previous quarter.

According to STATEC, once again, administration and other public services  were the most dynamic sectors with growth of 1.1% quarter-on-quarter and 4.3% year-on-year.

Employment in the construction sector, having stabilised over the previous two quarters, fell slightly in the second quarter (-0.1% quarter-on-quarter). Year-on-year, a decline of 0.4% was observed in the second quarter of 2026 (with other specialised construction activities suffering the greatest job losses over this period).

In the second quarter of 2026, the number of cross-border workers rose more sharply than that of resident workers (+0.6% compared with +0.2%). The number of German cross-border workers, meanwhile, recorded a slight increase of 0.1% compared with the first quarter of 2026, following several consecutive quarters of falling employment.
