On Saturday 28 May 2016, Luxembourg Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Xavier Bettel, Minister of Culture of Liechtenstein, Aurelia Frick and more than 120 Luxembourgish and international guests gathered to insugurate the Luxembourg Pavilion of the 15th edition of the Venice Biennale.

This year marks the seventh time that the Grand Duchy is participating, this time with an exhibition entitled "Tracing Transitions", in response to the theme put forward by General Curator of the festival, architext Alejandro Aravena: "Reporting from the Front".

In early 2015, the Luxembourg Center for Architecture (LUCA) organised Luxembourg's presence at Venice under instruction from the Ministry of Culture. Among the applications submitted following the call for projects, it was the multidisciplinary team composed of architects Claude Ballini, Daniel Grünkranz and Panajota Panotopoulou, as well as artist Serge Ecker, who were selected by a committee of experts to curate the exhibition.

The team explores housing needs in Luxembourg and proposes solutions to remedy the current situation. Xavier Bettel has invited curators to discuss in more detail the ideas they have developed in the weeks to come.

The Luxembourg Pavilion at the 15th Venice Biennale will be running until 27 November 2016, 11:00-19:00 Wednesday to Monday.
