At the invitation of Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden paid a working visit to Finland from Monday 5 to Tuesday 6 May 2025.
As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of State, the two Prime Ministers reaffirmed during their meeting the friendship between Luxembourg and Finland, as well as their commitment to further strengthening economic and political relations between the two countries.
They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in areas such as quantum technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), research, and defence and resilience, where Finland is "a pioneer" in Europe, according to the ministry.
"The Republic of Finland and Luxembourg share common values and principles. Such partnerships are particularly important in addressing the challenges facing Europe at this time," said Prime Minister Frieden. "We are also aligned on many points to advance the European agenda. We discussed competitiveness and the need to advance the Savings and Investments Union. We need a growing economy for our social policies, our defence spending and the ecological transition."
In Helsinki, Luxembourg's Prime Minister also met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb for a bilateral meeting on the geopolitical situation.
During his trip, Prime Minister Frieden also visited VTT, Nokia and several "key players" in the field of resilience and crisis preparedness.
