On Monday 19 January 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that 62 offences were recorded during motor vehicle inspections across Luxembourg on the night of Friday 16 through to Saturday 17 January 2026.
According to the police, the inspections took place between the hours of 21.00 and 02.00 in Leudelange, Contern, Pétange, Sanem and Foetz. In addition to checking vehicle documents, officers inspected the general condition of the vehicles and verified whether any modifications made complied with legal requirements and had been duly entered in the vehicle registration certificate, as prescribed.
A total of 62 offences under the Road Traffic Code were identified during the inspections.
In 18 cases, vehicle modifications were found that had not been properly registered (including non-compliant exhaust systems or indicators).
In 19 cases, defects relating to vehicle lighting were identified, and in one case, defects were found in the vehicle tyres. In eleven cases, irregularities were noted in relation to vehicle documents (missing documents, expired MOT, etc.).
Moreover, seven drivers attracted negative attention due to their driving behaviour and five vehicles had to be towed away.
