Luxembourg’s Ministry of Home Affairs and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) have announced that the monthly test of the siren network will take place on Monday 6 July 2026.

The ministry reported that in addition, the cellular broadcast alert channel (Cell Broadcast, CB) will be tested at around 11:00 across the entire national territory; this alert will, however, be silent. The message will appear as a priority notification on mobile device screens, including when devices are in silent or locked mode. It is specified that no sound or vibration will be emitted.

To ensure that the alert is correctly received without sound, it is essential that mobile devices are running a version compatible with the reception of such messages via the “LU-Alert” system and are up to date:

• Apple: iOS version 17.5 or later with the June 2024 system update;

• Android: Android 11 or later with the 1 August 2024 system update.

As with previous tests, the test alert transmitted via cell broadcast will also be issued simultaneously through the “LU-Alert” mobile application as well as via the website www.lu-alert.lu. As this is a test alert, no action or specific response is required.

The ministry said it would like to remind the public that the authorities use this alert channel when an event requiring warning or information for the population is likely to pose a significant or imminent danger and when immediate action is expected. In particular, silent alerts are suitable for situations requiring discreet warning.
