On Thursday 6 November 2025, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, reported that more than a dozen boxes of warm clothing were donated to them at the Sandweiler Cultural Centre.

The non-profit organisation said the donation was part of an initiative led by the Commune of Sandweiler’s Social and Inclusion Commission, with support from Fläisseg Hänn Sandweiler (Hardworking Hands Sandweiler), Mamie et Moi Asbl and the Jugendhaus Sandweiler (Sandweiler Youth House).

According to Stëmm, volunteers of all generations and skill levels, including beginners, joined the project by knitting at two separate occasions for people in need. The Sandweiler Youth House contributed by running the clothing drive. They noted that this effort, which combined solidarity and intergenerational involvement, yielded a substantial quantity of warm clothes.

The handover of the clothing was organised by Joëlle Golinski, chair of the commission, together with its members and took place in the presence of Sandweiler’s Mayor, Claude Mousel, who thanked the volunteers and donors.

Alexandra Oxacelay, director of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, received the donations and presented the association’s activities, noting the rise in needs at the end of the year. She said: “These donations come at exactly the right time. With winter approaching we need warm clothing more than ever for our Kleederstuff workshop.”

The Kleederstuff workshop distributes clothing free of charge to people in need and is sustained by donations from individuals and by drives run in schools, high schools and companies.
