On Tuesday 10 March 2026, the Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss, which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable individuals, announced that it recently received support from 160 children from the Berdorf nursery and primary school.

According to the Stëmm vun der Strooss, children with their teachers took part in a collection of chocolate and sweets for the beneficiaries of Stëmm.

This solidarity initiative, organised by the Parents’ Association of the Municipality of Berdorf, aims to reflect the municipality’s commitment to supporting people in need. For one week, pupils were invited to bring in chocolates they wished to share, reported Stëmm vun der Strooss. Following “Kleeschen” (St Nicholas Day) and “Liichtmëssdag” (Candlemas) many children had received sweets, which they generously chose to donate. The collection mainly consisted of treats received during Candlemas Day.

According to the non-profit, a total of five “carefully filled” boxes of chocolate and candy were collected and will be redistributed to the three Stëmm social restaurants located in Ettelbruck, Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg-Hollerich.

The boxes were officially handed over on Friday 27 February 2026, in the presence of Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, as well as teachers and pupils.

During the handover, Alexandra Oxacelay thanked the children for their commitment and generosity and emphasised the importance of such acts of solidarity.
