SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde has received a cheque for €220 after the Flick Flack Group of the Education and Reception Service Lënster Païperlék came to the organisation's aid through a fund-raising initiative.
On 18 December 2015, children and educators at the Maison Relais, based in Junglinster, offered chestnuts, Christmas cakes and tea to their parents in exchange for donations. The funds raised will be dedicated to four Family Strengthening Programmes supported by SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde in Senegal.
Eva-Maria Schmid, in charge of Education Development, thanked those involved for their gesture of solidarity at the cheque ceremony and presented SOS projects in Senegal.
The SOS Villages d'Enfants Senegal association was created in 1976 and currently supports 7,300 children, adolescents and adults through multiple programmes in the fields of family care, social action, education and health. The Luxembourg branch of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde currently finances the canteen of an SOS School in Ziguinchor and four Family Strengthening Programmes in Kaolack, Kolda, Louga and Pikine, which together help empower 1,637 children from 371 families to become self-sufficient.
