On Tuesday 5 May 2026, CJF Lëtzebuerg Asbl (formerly Caritas Jeunes et Familles) inaugurated the exhibition Ma voix compte ! (“My Voice Counts!”) at the Walfer Kulturschapp in Walferdange.
According to CJF Lëtzebuerg, the exhibition is the result of a participatory project initiated by the Children’s Rights Service of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and involved 259 children aged six to twelve from six maisons relais managed by the organisation.
The opening event was attended by representatives from Luxembourg’s Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, including Claudia Monti, Head of the Children’s Rights Service, Marco Deepen, Head of Service at the General Directorate for the Childcare Sector, as well as François Sauber, Mayor of Walferdange.
The project took place from autumn 2025 to spring 2026 and formed part of Luxembourg’s National Action Plan for Children’s Rights, particularly in relation to Articles 12 and 13 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child concerning participation and freedom of expression.
CJF Lëtzebuerg noted that the children took part in workshops designed to encourage them to express their ideas, needs and proposals through themes including their future, their ideal day, cooperation between adults and children and whether they feel listened to when facing concerns.
The children also shared reflections on peace, kindness and justice and proposed ideas aimed at improving their daily environment, the organisation added.
The exhibition features drawings, collective works and written reflections created during the workshops and remains open to the public until Friday 15 May 2026 at the Walfer Kulturschapp.
Carina Gonçalves, Director General of CJF Lëtzebuerg Asbl, stated: “Children deserve to be listened to, truly listened to. Not symbolically, but concretely, in their everyday environments. They are the ones who will build the Luxembourg of tomorrow, and their ideas, dreams and proposals fully deserve their place in this vision for society.”
