On Tuesday 7 October 2025, Luxembourg’s Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, presented certificates to 36 new hunters.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Marianne Jacobs, Chair of the Examination Commission, and Jo Studer, President of the Saint-Hubert Hunting Federation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The 2024/2025 cohort received their certificates following several months of demanding, comprehensive training; all candidates passed the shooting exam required for certification.
According to the Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity and Nature and Forest Agency, hunting represents a significant responsibility: it entails respecting nature, understanding wildlife and actively contributing to the sustainable management of animal populations and forests.
“Our forests are a precious and fragile ecosystem. They play an essential role for the climate by storing carbon and safeguarding our water resources. A balanced management of game is indispensable to maintain the health and regeneration of these natural environments. Hunting contributes directly to this balance and to the preservation of the forest for future generations,” said Minister Wilmes.
The Ministry added that newly certified hunters play a role in nature protection, with hunting considered part of ecological balance through contributions to forest regeneration, biodiversity preservation and the supply of local, healthy and sustainable products.
