On Tuesday 7 July 2026, Luxembourg champions FC Atert Bissen began their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign with an away defeat against Faroese champions KÍ Klaksvík in the first qualifying round.
Head coach Pedro Garcia made two changes to the starting line-up that defeated FC Differdange 03 in the Luxembourg Supercup LFL on Sunday 28 June 2026. Lenny Correia and Eric Veiga replaced Louis Marasi and captain Adriel Santos, while Roman Ferber took over the captain's armband.
Klaksvík applied early pressure and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Jean Carlos set up Oussama Ali to give the Faroese champions a 1-0 lead. The hosts continued to create chances throughout the remainder of the first half, but Atert Bissen held firm to keep the deficit at a single goal going into the break.
The home team doubled their advantage even earlier in the second half. Just five minutes after the restart, Árni Frederiksberg provided the assist for Páll Klettskarð, who made it 2-0. However, Pedro Garcia's team responded seven minutes later as Diogo Pimentel set up Tiago Rodrigues da Costa to pull one back for the Luxembourg champions. Despite Bissen's efforts to find an equaliser, the score remained 2-1 until the final whistle.
The second leg of the the first qualifying round will take place on Wednesday 15 July 2026 at the Stade de Luxembourg in Luxembourg City, with kick-off scheduled for 20:15.
