On Friday 3 May 2024, Luxembourg's Ministry for Digitalisation and the Government IT Centre (CTIE) announced the launch of a new innovation partnership by GovTech Lab Luxembourg: "AccessiLingua", with a focus on accessibility and digital inclusion.
According to the press release, GovTech Lab is seeking to develop a tool for Luxembourg ministries and administrations to transcribe texts in French and German in simplified language, which respects as much as possible the French- and German-language rules in this area, as well as expressions, abbreviations and common names in the Luxembourg context.
The example of Guichet.lu was given, as the information portal produces many descriptions of procedures which are deemed useful to all sections of the population in French, German and English. The parallel production of these same texts in FALC (simplified French) and "Leichte Sprache" (simplified German), which requires specific knowledge in these two languages, "poses an additional challenge for the Guichet.lu teams to publish them within reasonable deadlines".
In order to quickly make this information more accessible, GovTech Lab is looking for a tool based on artificial intelligence (AI), "capable of assisting the various writers of these texts by generating the equivalent of their text in simple language as efficiently as possible". Specialists will then review and validate this version of the texts.
Economic operators interested in participating in "AccessiLingua" are invited to consult the call for solutions on the public procurement portal and to submit their application by 10 June 2024.
