On Tuesday 30 June 2026, Luxembourg’s Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs together with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade dispatched a second package of humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck the country on Wednesday 24 June 2026.

According to the authorities, the aid was delivered as part of a joint mission with Belgium aboard an A400M transport aircraft, which departed from Melsbroek Air Base in Belgium.

The aircraft carried two Luxembourg experts from the Humanitarian Intervention Team (HIT) of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), together with a Light Base Camp module to support the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) Team.

The mission also transported humanitarian supplies from Luxembourg's emergency stock, including generators and tents, as well as essential relief items provided by Belgium, added the authorities.

The two experts joined five Luxembourg colleagues who had departed on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June 2026. Two of them were deploying the emergency.lu satellite communication module, while the remaining three were serving within the European Civil Protection Team, the European Union's coordination team.

Commenting on the mission, Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Xavier Bettel, stated: "I am delighted with the excellent cooperation with our Belgian partners, and in particular with my counterpart Maxime Prévot, in the context of our support for Venezuela following the powerful earthquakes that shook the country."
