On Thursday 30 July 2026, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) presented the programme for the 684th edition of the Schueberfouer, which will take place at the Glacis fairground in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg from Friday 21 August to Wednesday 9 September 2026.
Chronicle.lu attended the press conference at the Luxembourg City Bierger-Center, where First Alderman Maurice Bauer, Alderman Patrick Goldschmidt, Laurent Schwaller, head of the VdL Department of Public Spaces, and Romain Pax, head of the city's Traffic Department, outlined this year's programme, new attractions, transport arrangements and other practical information.
Founded in 1340 by John the Blind, the Schueberfouer remains one of the largest travelling funfairs in Europe and the Greater Region. Following the official opening by Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer at 17:00 on Friday 21 August 2026, visitors will be able to enjoy attractions, rides, games, restaurants and food stands throughout the twenty-day event. The opening ceremony will also feature the traditional Ham an Hämel procession.
During the presentation, Alderman Patrick Goldschmidt also unveiled the official poster for the 2026 edition, featuring the winning design by Amélie Bon. The design was selected as part of the VdL's Schueberfouer poster competition, in which three winning entries were chosen to be used for future editions of the fair.
The fairground will be open daily from 12:00 to 01:00, while restaurants and food establishments will be permitted to open from 11:00 each day.
The VdL noted that the layout introduced in 2017 to accommodate the tram infrastructure remains unchanged. Restaurants and larger food outlets will again be grouped in the north-western section of the Glacis, while rides, attractions and retail stands will be distributed across the remainder of the site.
Covering 4.44 hectares, the Schueberfouer site will again feature seven public entrances.
According to the VdL, this year's Schueberfouer will host 214 fairground establishments, representing five countries. Luxembourg accounts for the largest share with 92 operators (42.9%), followed by France (55), Germany (43), Belgium (24) and the Netherlands (3).
Attractions, rides and other stands: nine flat rides; eight elevated rides; two rail-guided attractions; nineteen children's rides and attractions; six ghost trains, walk-through attractions, cinemas and other attractions; one bumper car attraction; seven Luna parks and amusement arcades; fifteen shooting ranges; 21 game stands; 40 miscellaneous vendors.
Restaurants and food stands: eleven restaurants; 42 savoury takeaway food stands; eighteen sweet takeaway stands; fifteen confectionery stands.
This year's Schueberfouer will welcome eight new attractions. New rides include Dr Archibald – Master of Time, Wilde Maus, Meltdown and Skater. New gastronomic offerings include Paella by King Kong, while new retail stands comprise Haribo, HandyParadies and Heliumballons.
In addition, ten attractions will return after one or more years of absence: Thriller, Techno Power, Rotor, Flipper, Jules Verne Tower, Starlight, Circus Circus, Happy Sailor, Magic Crêpes and Cuir Artisanal Loedts.
Lämmy, the Schueberfouer mascot, will once again appear at the fairground.
On the afternoons of Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 3 September, Lämmy and Friends will distribute Fouertichelcher containing free ride tickets.
On Monday 7 September, visitors will also be able to take part in the Lämmy Fouer Spill, with coupons distributed throughout the afternoon and the prize draw scheduled for 18:00 near Entrance E1.
Visitors will also be able to purchase Lämmy souvenirs at the travelling Fouershop, with proceeds from sales going to charity.
Speaking about access to the fairground, Patrick Goldschmidt encouraged visitors to use Luxembourg's public transport network, as well as cycling and walking routes, rather than travelling by car. He highlighted the P+R Bouillon facility as the preferred parking option for motorists, with shuttle bus connections to the fairground helping to reduce congestion around the Glacis site.

Monday 7 September: Braderie in Luxembourg City's Upper Town and Gare districts; Lämmy Fouer Spill competition throughout the afternoon, with the prize draw at 18:00 near Entrance E1;
Wednesday 9 September: Last day of the Schueberfouer, with half-price rides and game stands until 20:00, followed by the traditional fireworks display at 22:00 from the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge.
