On Thursday 30 July 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth published the results of the orientation of pupils from primary to secondary education for the 2025/2026 school year.
At the end of the school year, placement decisions were made for 5,923 pupils completing primary education. In addition, fourteen pupils will benefit from an extended Cycle 4 during the 2026/2027 school year.
According to the ministry, 39.9% of pupils were placed in a 7e class in classical secondary education (7e C), while 46.0% were placed in a 7e class in the orientation pathway of general secondary education (7e G). A further 13.9% were directed to the preparatory pathway (7e P), while 0.2% will follow an extended Cycle 4 next school year.
The ministry noted that placement rates across the different branches of secondary education remain stable and are in line with the fluctuations observed in recent years.
The agreement rate between parents' and teachers' placement recommendations also remained very high, reaching 99.4%, according to the published figures.
