On Thursday 1 October 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture and Ministry of State announced it is developing a national strategy on the future of the country’s audiovisual sector.

The ministries said the strategy aims to establish, together with the stakeholders concerned, a shared vision and common priorities in order to support the sustainable development of Luxembourg’s audiovisual ecosystem.

Against a backdrop of profound changes linked in particular to new consumer habits, platforms, opportunities arising from artificial intelligence and developments in funding, the strategy will address, among other things, the development of sector stakeholders, talent, public support mechanisms and infrastructure, as well as the conditions enabling the audiovisual ecosystem to maintain its dynamism in an ever-changing international environment.

The ministries detailed that the work will be jointly led by the Ministry of Culture, the Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy Department of the Ministry of State, Film Fund Luxembourg and the National Audiovisual Centre and emphasised that the audiovisual sector will be closely involved throughout the process.

A launch event is planned for autumn 2026 to present the process to the associations, outline its main stages and explain how the various stakeholders can participate.
