On Saturday 18 April 2026, Luxembourg‑based non-profit association Politics for all and CIEP Arlon are organising a cross‑border citizen visit to Arlon to explore how local and regional democracy works in practice and to meet political decision‑makers from the Province of Luxembourg and the City of Arlon in Belgium.
The one‑day programme includes:
- a visit to the Regional government of Province of Luxembourg and a meeting with political representatives;
- a group lunch in Arlon offered by CIEP Arlon;
- a visit to Arlon City Hall and an exchange with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and local councillors, focusing on transparency, communication and citizen participation - including the role of foreign residents.
A bus will depart from Luxembourg Central Station in the morning at 09:45 (returning in the late afternoon). Participants can also choose to join the group directly in Arlon.
The visit is open to all residents interested in local democracy, including those who may consider running as candidates in the 2028 local elections and who want to experience political work "from the inside". Participation is free of charge. For registration and further details, visit: https://www.politicsforall.lu/events/visit-to-arlon-lets-demystify-local-politics-1
The "Let's Demystify Local Politics!" project is coordinated by Politics for all asbl (Luxembourg), in partnership with CIEP - Centre d'Information et d'Éducation Populaire (Arlon), and is co‑funded by the European Union under the Interreg Grande Région 2021-2027 programme.
