On Wednesday 20 May 2026, during a press conference at the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) headquarters in Mondercange, Luxembourg men’s national football team head coach Jeff Strasser announced the squad selection for the upcoming international friendly matches against Italy and Albania.
During the June international window, the Red Lions will first host Italy at the Stade de Luxembourg on Wednesday 3 June 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 20:45. The Grand Duchy team will then travel to Tirana to face Albania at the Arena Kombëtare on Saturday 6 June 2026 at 20:00.
Head coach Jeff Strasser has called up 28 players for Luxembourg’s upcoming matches against Italy and Albania.
The squad includes goalkeepers Lucas Fox (1. FC Bocholt, Germany), Tim Kips (1. FC Phönix Lübeck, Germany), Anthony Moris (Al-Khaleej, Saudi Arabia) and Tiago Pereira (Borussia Mönchengladbach, Germany).
In defence, the selected players are Florian Bohnert (SC Bastia, France), Dirk Carlson (SKN St. Pölten, Austria), Laurent Jans (SK Beveren, Belgium), Seid Korac (Venezia FC, Italy), Enes Mahmutovic (NAC Breda, Netherlands), Mica Pinto (FC Dordrecht, Netherlands), Helmer Tavares (RC Alcobendas, Spain), Vahid Selimovic (Iberia 1999 Tbilisi, Georgia) and Eric Veiga (Flamurtari FC, Albania).
Midfield options include Tomás Cruz (SL Benfica, Portugal), Enzo De Pina Duarte (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), Diego Duarte (RFC Seraing, Belgium), Miguel Goncalves (FC 08 Homburg, Germany), Christopher Martins (Spartak Moscow, Russia), Mathias Olesen (Grazer AK, Austria) and Sébastien Thill (Stal Rzeszow, Poland).
In attack, Jeff Strasser has selected Yvandro Borges Sanches (Heracles Almelo, Netherlands), Alessio Curci (Neftchi PFK, Azerbaijan), Aiman Dardari (SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Germany), Leon Elshan (AS La Jeunesse d’Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg), Hamza Kadamani (FC Metz, France), Edvin Muratovic (FK Panevezys, Lithuania), Danel Sinani (FC St. Pauli, Germany) and Vincent Thill (SV Waldhof Mannheim, Germany).
Jeff Strasser confirmed that Anthony Moris had been included in the squad despite ongoing shoulder-related medical examinations, which also contributed to the decision to call up four goalkeepers for the June international window, while midfielder Leandro Barreiro will miss the two friendlies after playing through ankle ligament and pubic inflammation issues in recent months.
The squad also includes several younger players, notably Helmer Tavares, Miguel Goncalves, Diego Duarte, Leon Elshan and Hamza Kadamani, although some could later rejoin the Luxembourg U21 squad depending on player availability and scheduling around the June training camp. Jeff Strasser said the training camp would provide an opportunity to assess several younger players who had recently impressed with the Luxembourg U21 team, describing the process as part of a longer-term continuity plan for the national side.
The head coach also addressed the broader issue of players with multiple nationalities, stressing that representing Luxembourg should be based on “pride, conviction and real desire”. Referring to Paris Saint-Germain youngster Fabio Domingos, Jeff Strasser revealed that the player had previously declined a Luxembourg call-up before later accepting an invitation from Portugal youth teams. He added that the national team “is not a backup solution for anyone’s future”.
Speaking about the upcoming match against Italy, Jeff Strasser noted that despite reports suggesting the visitors could field a younger squad, Luxembourg still expected “a team of great quality” against the four-time world champions.
