On Wednesday 19 November 2025, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced its programme of activities for Orange Week 2025, the annual national campaign aimed at combating violence against girls and women.
On Friday 21 November, the NGO Padem, in collaboration with the association Afghanistan aujourd’hui et demain, will organise the conference “N’oublions pas les femmes afghanes” at 19:00 at Cercle Cité (Auditorium Henri Beck). The event will feature a testimony by journalist Sylvie Cozzolino, a screening of an exclusive report, a Q&A session and a solidarity cocktail. Entry is free of charge but registration is required.
On Saturday 22 November, a solidarity march will take place from Place Hamilius at 11:00, organised by the National Council of Women of Luxembourg.
On Tuesday 25 November at 12:15, the public is invited to gather on Place Guillaume II to form a human chain in support of Orange Week. Participants are encouraged to wear an orange-coloured accessory or item of clothing as a symbol of solidarity.
From 24 to 28 November, oranges will be distributed at various municipal sites, including the City Hall, the Bierger-Center, the Service Intégration et besoins spécifiques, the “Leo” building, the Lëtzebuerg City Bibliothèque, the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, the Grand Théâtre and the Conservatoire. Each orange will feature a QR code linking to an online questionnaire designed to help individuals assess the quality of their relationship. This preventive action, initiated by the Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte, aims to promote mutual respect in relationships and raise awareness of toxic behaviours.
From 25 November to 10 December, several public buildings, including the City Hall, the Grand Théâtre tower, Villa Vauban and the Ban de Gasperich water tower, will be illuminated in orange. During this period, the orange “Stop violence against women” flag will also be raised on Place Guillaume II.At the national level, Orange Week is coordinated by the National Council of Women of Luxembourg in collaboration with the Luxembourg section of Zonta International.
