On the occasion of World Food Day, celebrated annually on 16 October, Luxembourg's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, in partnership with IMS Luxembourg, has launched "The Good Fork" Award.

Luxembourg's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, Martine Hansen, emphasised that this symbolic date highlights the importance of healthy, local and responsible food and represents a key moment to mobilise stakeholders in the catering industry around sustainable practices.

According to the ministry, this award aims to recognise establishments (public or private, large or small) that are making a concrete commitment to the food transition. It is part of a collective effort to address the challenges of food security, natural resource preservation and social justice.

Submitted projects must fall into one of the following two categories: food waste reduction; sourcing of regional and seasonal products.

Applications will be evaluated based on their measurable impact, their innovative and replicable nature, and their ability to sustainably transform food practices.

The call for projects opened on Thursday 16 October 2025 and will close on Monday 16 February 2026. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 17 March 2026, during which the finalist initiatives will be presented to the public, who will be able to vote for their favourite projects. A practical guide bringing together the best initiatives will also be published to encourage their wider dissemination.

The ministry added that, by participating in "The Good Fork" competition, catering establishments are committing to a concrete approach to sustainable, innovative and forward-looking food and promoting the key message of this year's World Food Day: "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future." The ministry and IMS Luxembourg welcomed this mobilisation, which they said actively contributes to addressing the food challenges of today and tomorrow.
