Cercle Cité in Luxembourg-Ville has announced that artist Safouane Ben Slama will present the 41st intervention at its CeCiL’s Box exhibition space, titled Un puzzle de mots et de pensées (A Puzzle of Words and Thoughts), with an opening reception and an opportunity to meet the artist at 12:00 on Thursday 17 September 2026.
In support of local creation, CeCiL’s Box on Rue du Curé presents and promotes the work of emerging artists and young artists from the Greater Region. The miniature exhibition space is visible 24 hours a day, both day and night, and offers a platform in the heart of the city for a series of unique and temporary projects in the fields of visual and applied arts. The aim is to spark the curiosity of passers-by and engage the collective imagination.
According to Cercle Cité, the installation has been conceived as a perpetual movement, a puzzle in constant development, gradually completed through images created on a daily basis between 2012 and 2026, in which words and thoughts come together over time.
The display will be situated somewhere between Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas – an important corpus of images in which the German art historian established not only historical connections but also formal correspondences between different civilisations – and a teenager’s bedroom, revealing fragments of intimacy and certain obsessions. Connections between the images and humanity are alternately suggested and proposed, sometimes asserted and sometimes whispered.
The installation will evolve week by week throughout the exhibition period. According to Cercle Cité, as the images overlap, they will open up new perspectives based on firmly rooted realities.
Cercle Cité will display the work from Thursday 17 September to Sunday 6 December 2026.
