The Grand Ducal Police have reported that as part of its “Gutt Gesinn” (“Good Sense”) road safety campaign they carried out a large-scale traffic check on the N31 in Pétange, on Tuesday 20 January 2026.

According to the police, during the operation, which took place between 07:00 and 09:00 in front of the PED roundabout, penalty notices were issued in 29 cases due to various defects in vehicle lighting and 26 cases involved irregularities in vehicle documents. In seven of these cases, the Customs Administration found that the tax disc had expired.

Two drivers were issued warnings for offences relating to number plates and, in one case, vehicle modifications were identified that had not been properly registered.

Moreover, defects in tyres were identified in one vehicle (€145 fine and two points), one driver was using a mobile phone while driving (€250 fine and four points), and another driver failed to comply with the prescribed speed limit (€49 fine).
