The Grand Ducal Police reported that a vehicle was stopped in Trier following a police pursuit that began in Luxembourg on Thursday 3 September 2026.

According to the police, they were informed in the evening of a rear-end collision involving two vehicles in Kirchberg near Place de l'Europe. As a police patrol car approached the scene of the accident, one of the vehicles involved rammed the police vehicle and fled.

The fleeing vehicle was subsequently spotted by another police patrol on the A1. Officers began a pursuit, but the driver refused to stop. The vehicle continued at significantly excessive speed in the direction of Trier.

German police were informed and joined the pursuit from the border crossing. The vehicle was eventually stopped in Trier.
