The Luxembourg Red Cross has announced the “Mois du Don” (“Donation Month”) 2026 campaign will take place from Monday 20 April to Wednesday 20 May 2026, aiming to mobilise volunteers and encourage donations across the country.
As in previous years, several hundred volunteers will be active nationwide, raising awareness and encouraging residents of the Grand Duchy to support the initiative. Donations collected during the campaign, on site, online or via bank transfer, will primarily support vulnerable people facing increasing social, health and economic challenges, as well as victims of crises and conflicts worldwide.
The Donation Month 2026 campaign aims to highlight often unseen situations of vulnerability before intervention by the Red Cross. Through impactful visuals, it emphasises that “reality changes when you donate”. This year’s campaign focuses on three key issues: homelessness in Luxembourg, support for refugees and migrants, and international aid, including in Ukraine.
“Behind every action lies a need. Let us act together to change these realities and enable our teams to provide shelter, medical care, social support and access to essential services every day,” said Dominique Hansen, Director of Fundraising and Communication.
According to the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Fight against Poverty presented at the end of 2025, around 20% of Luxembourg’s resident population was at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2024. This confirms earlier observations and reflects a complex context marked by multiple international crises and growing financial pressure on the most vulnerable households.
In response, the Luxembourg Red Cross continues its mission to provide concrete support and sustainable solutions. The figures illustrate the growing needs: the number of visits to social grocery shops rose from 31,206 in 2021 to 38,457 in 2025, supporting more than 1,000 households. Over the same period, the number of people using clothing distribution services increased from 2,566 to 6,355.
The Reception and Emergency Accommodation Service (SALU), which includes services such as the social bistro, street outreach, night shelter, winter assistance and supported housing, follows a holistic approach aimed at improving the quality of life and dignity of people in precarious situations. In 2025 alone, the social bistro recorded 34,549 visits, issued 5,866 shower vouchers and 38,144 vouchers for access to the social restaurant.
