On Friday 29 May 2026, Luxembourg’s national railway company, the CFL, issued an invitation to cyclists of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to join them on Wednesday 3 June at the main foyer of the Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg transport hub in celebration of World Bicycle Day.
From 10:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday 3 June, the CFL and its partners will be present at the funicular in Luxembourg-Kirchberg to off bicycle repairs free of charge (minor repairs only) and receive maintenance advice from the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) and start-up company The Happy Cyclist.
Also on the programme are on-site catering facilities and useful information about cycling in Luxembourg, including cycling tourism, provided by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO).
The CFL will also showcase its cycling-related services, including the opportunity to register free of charge for the national network of 93 secure bikebox bicycle parking facilities.
To enable those without their own bicycle to explore the capital on two wheels, bicycles will be made available free of charge by the Sightseeing.lu platform from 07:00 to 18:30, subject to prior registration via https://worldbikedaycfl2026.palisis.com/?book-direct=r-8678.

Committed to meeting the needs of its customers and providing mobility solutions that complement rail transport, CFL has been implementing a cycling strategy since 2023. This initiative aims in particular to strengthen the complementarity between cycling and rail travel and to cover the entire journey, from the first mile to the last mile.
As a reminder, riding two-wheeled vehicles on station platforms and within railway stations is strictly prohibited. Bicycles, scooters and other two-wheeled vehicles must be pushed by hand.
CFL’s approach covers both everyday cycling (such as commuting) and leisure cycling with family, as well as sporting activities. It is structured around several key areas to meet the needs of cyclists:
• infrastructure: Easier access to station platforms through lifts and dedicated bicycle channels alongside staircases, allowing bicycles to be pushed by hand;
• rail services: An enhanced train service throughout the year on weekends and public holidays on the Northern Line, making it easier to explore this region of the country;
• rolling stock: Dedicated bicycle spaces on board trains, particularly in the new Coradia multiple-unit trains (multi-purpose compartments with twelve or 24 spaces, depending on the train series);
• parking: 93 secure bikebox facilities installed, particularly near railway stations, available free of charge.
• services: Tourist bicycle hire available from May to September in partnership with Sightseeing.lu.
