On Thursday 11 June 2026, Luxembourg’s Minister for National Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, officially inaugurated the Eltereforum in Differdange.

Luxembourg’s Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth reported that the inauguration took place in the presence of the Minister for the Civil Service, Serge Wilmes, and the Mayor of Differdange, Guy Altmeisch. The two ministries share premises for two separate activities while also pooling certain spaces in order to optimise the use of the facilities.

The Eltereforum, situated in the Gravity building in Differdange, is the tenth parental forum to open its doors. Together with the parental forums in Esch-sur-Alzette and Bettembourg, it covers the southern region.

The ministry said that the new Eltereforum benefits from a strategic position close to local education stakeholders (Differdange Primary Education Directorate, Inclusion Commission, and the Support Team for Pupils with Specific Needs), who are also based on site. Easily accessible by public transport due to its proximity to the railway station and bus routes, it is situated in a dynamic district near the shopping centre as well as numerous shops and restaurants.

Supporting parents in their parenting role

Parental forums aim to support parents from the point of their parenting project and throughout all stages of their children’s development, up to the age of majority.

The parental forums offer largely free and tailored support adapted to families’ life situations, providing high-quality information and offering spaces for exchange with other parents and professionals.

These welcoming spaces also offer meetings, parent-child activities, courses and information evenings, as well as individual consultations for parents.

Parental forums are generalist in nature and do not provide specialised care. When necessary, parents are directed towards appropriate specialist services.

The ministry highlighted that further parental forum projects are currently under consideration to ensure the presence of a parental forum in each of the fifteen regional directorates of primary education.
