From Tuesday 16 to Monday 22 September 2025, European Mobility Week is taking place under the theme “Mobility for Everyone”.

European Mobility Week is an annual initiative of the European Commission aimed at encouraging European cities and towns to dedicate one week to sustainable mobility.

According to the Ville de Luxembourg (VdL), the programme in the capital will feature a range of events, including a “Mobility for All” day on Thursday 18 September 2025 on Place Guillaume II. This awareness day, organised in collaboration with Info-Handicap, will focus on the mobility of people with specific needs. Activities include demonstrations of adapted public transport services such as standard buses and the Call-a-Bus minibuses equipped with lifts, as well as obstacle courses to raise awareness of the daily challenges faced by wheelchair users and visually impaired people.

In addition, the VdL and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) are offering free multimodal tours on Friday 19 and Sunday 21 September 2025, allowing participants to explore the capital’s main sites and viewpoints on foot and by using different modes of public transport (panoramic lift, funicular and tram). Tours last 2.5 hours and are accessible to all. Participation is free of charge but registration is required (limited number of places) via luxembourg-city.com or at the LCTO tourist office in Place Guillaume II.

The City of Luxembourg is also participating in GoGo VELO, a campaign organised by ProVelo and Klima-Bündnis Lëtzebuerg with the support of the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, encouraging everyday cycling. The City has set itself the symbolic challenge of collectively covering the distance from the North to the South Pole (20,015 km). Participants can join via the “Radbonus II” app using the code GOGOVELO. Prizes, such as backpacks, bicycle repair kits, water bottles and tickets to museums and municipal swimming pools, will be awarded.

Finally, the VdL is once again supporting the awareness campaign “Living together, moving together!” in partnership with the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, CFL, Luxtram and Info-Handicap. This media campaign, running throughout European Mobility Week, promotes mutual respect, inclusiveness and solidarity on public transport, encouraging small gestures to make travel more pleasant for all.
