On Friday 24 October 2025, Belle Bandura Asbl, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation, held the international socio-cultural event “Ukraine: Roots, Resilience, Renaissance” at the Foyer Européen in Luxembourg-Gare.
According to the organisers, the event focused on Ukrainian identity, memory and resilience, bringing together elements of art, photography, literature, music and civic engagement.
Speakers included Luxembourgish author and journalist Philippe Schockweiler, who presented his essay series “Under the Sirens, We Still Dance,” a lyrical reflection on life in Kyiv during wartime. Ukrainian photographer and artist Kateryna Mostova introduced her long-term project and photobook “My Ukraine” (2004-2025), portraying the country’s beauty, diversity and the transformations brought by war, while also addressing themes of decolonisation and identity.
Ričardas Ulizas, representing the Luxembourg-based organisation Wings for Europe, discussed the role of civil society in supporting Ukraine, both historically and today.
The evening concluded with a performance by the Belgian-Luxembourgish duo Belle Bandura - Natalia Demchuk and Nadia Balych, whose contemporary music blends Ukrainian songs with the traditional sound of the bandura.
According to the organisers, funds raised during the event were used to purchase two drones to be delivered to the Ukrainian military.
