The Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg has announced the International Aikido Seminar directed by Master Mitsuteru Ueshiba, to take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October 2025 at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

The event will be held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the practice of Aikido in the Grand Duchy. Master Ueshiba, great-grandson of the founder of Aikido O’Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, will lead the sessions. Aikido, a Japanese martial art developed between the 1910s and 1950s, combines techniques of projection, joint locks and immobilisation, as well as the study of traditional weapons such as the sword (aiki ken) and the staff (aiki jo).

According to the Embassy, eight clubs in Luxembourg are currently affiliated with the Luxembourg Martial Arts Federation (FLAM), bringing together around 400 practitioners of all ages. Luxembourg regularly hosts Japanese and European experts and participates actively in training courses across the Greater Region.

The seminar programme at the Coque will feature training sessions on Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00, from 14:30 to 16:30, followed by an embukai (demonstration) from 17:00 to 18:00. On Sunday, sessions will take place from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:30 to 16:30.
