On Thursday 22 January 2026, the Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois (COSL) held the opening of its exhibition “Luxembourg at the Olympic Games” at the Shopping Center Belle Étoile in Bertrange.
The event brought together around 60 guests and took place in the presence of Laurent Schonckert, Member of the Supervisory Board of Cactus Group, Martine Hansen, Luxembourg’s Minister of Sport, and Michel Knepper, President of the COSL.
The exhibition traces the participation and performances of Luxembourg athletes at the Olympic Games and is open to the public from Friday 22 to Saturday 31 January 2026.
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Lis Rottler-Fautsch, Marketing and Communication Manager at the Comité Olympique et Sportif Luxembourgeois (COSL), explained the main idea behind the exhibition: “We like to try to get people to know the Luxembourgish sports athletes who represented Luxembourg at the Olympic Games. That is why we organised this exhibition. We had already done something similar ahead of Paris 2024, so people could get to know the athletes who went there. This time, with the Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina starting in February, we wanted to create a kind of winter edition, while still keeping a strong link to the Summer Olympics.”
She added that the exhibition is also aimed at inspiring younger visitors: “We hope that when children see the equipment and learn about the athletes, they start to think: ‘I could be one of them.’ The idea is really to bring sport closer to young people and to spark their interest.”
On Saturday 31 January 2026, the exhibition will be accompanied by a dedicated sports discovery day at the Belle Étoile shopping centre. On this occasion, 20 sports federations will be present, offering visitors the opportunity to discover a wide range of disciplines through interactive workshops. Visitors, particularly children, will be able to take part in a sports rally and collect stamps by trying different activities, with small prizes to be won, including Team Luxembourg T-shirts.
