On Tuesday 29 July 2025, Luxembourg non-profit organisation SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde announced that it received a donation of €1,900 from employees at BorgWarner for its project supporting vulnerable schoolchildren in Aït Ourir, Morocco.

SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde reported that on Tuesday 15 July 2025, the social committee of Luxembourg-based automotive component manufacturer, BorgWarner, held a “Cook & Donate” charity event, repeating their efforts from 2024. The event saw twelve employees take part, cooking traditional dishes from their home countries and selling them to colleagues to raise funds for the non-profit organisation.

The following week, the participants of the fundraising event welcomed Partnership Manager at SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, Anne Schweizer, to the BorgWarner offices in Hautcharage to hand over the cheque. At the presentation, Ms Schweizer thanked the participants and outlined the organisation’s current projects, including their work in Morocco.

According to the NGO, following two previous solidarity efforts - a BorgWarner Moves sports challenge in 2023 and another Cook & Donate in 2024 - the latest initiative further demonstrated the employees’ active commitment to supporting the association.

SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde noted that BorgWarner Luxembourg has already contributed €5,595 to the project in Morocco, which aims to improve learning conditions and help pupils in the Aït Ourir region return to school - a cause the organisations noted was “especially important” after an earthquake in the country in 2023. The project includes the construction of a co-educational secondary school for 500 pupils and a boarding facility for 50 girls, which began in November 2024 and is expected to finish this year.

Over its 40-year history, the local SOS organisation in Morocco has helped around 2,000 young people towards independence, providing many with access to quality education.
