On Thursday 17 September 2026, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, reported that a solidarity clothing drive organised by Belval Plaza shopping centre in Esch-sur-Alzette from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September had collected approximately 100 kilos of clothing.
According to Stëmm vun der Strooss, the initiative aimed to offer customers an environmentally responsible alternative, boost their purchasing power and directly support disadvantaged people in the local community.
Around 100 customers dropped off approximately 500 items of clothing at a temporary pop-up shop in the shopping centre. The collected clothing had an estimated value of €5,250, based on the initiative’s pricing scheme, and represented approximately 100 kilos of clothing saved from going to waste. The temporary sales generated more than €1,000.
On Wednesday 16 September, Belval Plaza Marketing Manager Aline Bourduge and Executive Assistant Eléonore Baudoin handed over the unsold clothing to Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss. The clothing will go directly to the charity’s wardrobes to provide clothing for people living in precarious situations across the Grand Duchy.
The donation comes during the year of Stëmm vun der Strooss’s 30th anniversary. Alexandra Oxacelay said: “Mindsets are changing in Luxembourg. More and more companies and individuals are supporting our actions because the rise in poverty has become all too visible. In this context, every day feels like a celebration when solidarity materialises like this.”
