On Tuesday 17 March 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Education, Children and Youth presented “Extraklass”, a new digital platform bringing together educational activities offered by civil society organisations for schools.

According to the ministry, the platform is designed to strengthen cooperation between schools and external partners by enabling teachers to search for and directly book educational activities that best meet the needs of their pupils.

“To fulfil its mission, the school must also open up to the world beyond the classroom and to civil society actors. The educational activities offered by these partners make it possible to address many socially relevant topics with pupils and to develop key 21st-century skills. With Extraklass, we enhance the visibility of this offer while ensuring it aligns with the priorities and programmes of the national education system,” said Minister Claude Meisch.

Many educational activities offered by external partners (associations, NGOs, etc.) are currently spread across various websites and platforms, including kulturama.lu, beweegung.lu, entrepreneurship.lu, levelup.lu and liesen.lu. Extraklass brings these offers together in a single catalogue, providing easier access for schools and partners while ensuring coherence and pedagogical quality.

The ministry stated that all activities available on Extraklass are validated and aligned with national school curricula. The offer is structured around nine socially relevant themes, adapted to the new primary school curriculum and secondary education programmes, making it easier to address transversal topics across different subjects and to develop essential life skills.

These themes include culture, arts and heritage; digitalisation, media and artificial intelligence; health, wellbeing and prevention; sustainable development, environment and consumption; democracy, rights and global citizenship; languages, communication and multiliteracy; science and technology; guidance, careers and life paths; and finance and entrepreneurship.

The platform offers three complementary digital spaces: a public section to discover partners and consult the full catalogue of activities; a partner section where organisations can manage their offers, calendars and bookings; and a teacher section integrating requests, confirmations, personal calendars and communication tools.

According to the ministry, all bookings and exchanges are handled through a centralised and secure system, ensuring consistent management of requests and reservations.

The ministry added that external partners must undergo an accreditation procedure in order to offer activities on the platform, ensuring that interventions meet the required quality standards. A monitoring system will assess the use of the platform and allow for continuous improvement of the offer, including through systematic feedback after each activity.

Extraklass will be available as a website and mobile application from the 2026/2027 school year, the ministry confirmed, inviting interested partners to join the platform to increase the visibility of their activities. Information sessions will be organised in the coming weeks, with further details available at extraklass.lu.
