On Saturday 8 November 2025, Tornado Luxembourg played their fifth match in Group A of Division 2 in the French Ice Hockey Championship in season 2025/2026, falling against Évry-Viry, the league’s leaders.

Christer Eriksson’s team played on home ice at the Kockelscheuer rink in front of 815 spectators, coming off two consecutive defeats against Hogly (2-6) and Brest (1-6). Tornado were unable to please their home supporters or end their losing streak.

In the opening period, Andrew Doucet found the net to give the visitors the lead. Franck Stroppolo equalised for Tornado, but Thomas Mathieu restored Évry-Viry’s advantage, sending the French side into the first break with a narrow 2-1 lead.

In the second period, Tornado goalkeeper Viktor Bodin conceded four more goals. Thomas Marsan struck twice for Évry-Viry, while Mehdi Mouchrif and Andrew Doucet also found the net. Luxembourg’s team managed to respond only once late in the period through a goal from the captain 39-year-old Colm Cannon, as visitors went into the final break with a commanding 6-2 lead.

The final period brought no improvement for Tornado, as they were unable to find the net. Instead, Évry-Viry’s Andrew Doucet completed his hat-trick, finishing as the game’s top scorer.

Head coach Christer Eriksson reflected on the match: "Tough game against the leader. The first and third periods, we defended well and gave ourselves a 'chance to challenge' them. But in the second, we were unfortunately losing our focus and rigor, and that cost us the possibility to stay in the game.”

The Tornado coach added that the team is currently facing a challenging phase: "At the moment, we are in a complicated period with key players out and younger players working hard to 'take the roles.' It will take some time to have everyone back and be able to 'set the lines and roles again,' but we will find back; no doubt there is a great group with plenty of potential to grow.”

His words are reflected in the team’s current line-up, with around half of the players being new compared to late last season.

Following the 2-7 defeat, Tornado Luxembourg sit eighth in Group A of Division 2 in the French Ice Hockey Championship. On Saturday 15 November 2025, they will travel to face Renards d’Orléans, who currently occupy sixth place with eight points.
