Women Excel in STEM (WeSTEM+) has reported that it recently held the closing ceremony of its "Robotics Rookies" programme, bringing together more than 120 guests.

Robotics Rookies is a free, hands-on STEM programme dedicated to equipping young girls with practical skills, confidence and connections to ensure future success in robotics, coding and related fields.

The closing ceremony of the "Robotics Rookies: Explore, Create, Innovate!" programme, held at Forum Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg-Merl on Saturday 12 July 2025, celebrated the graduation of 25 students following five months of intensive robotics training delivered by Tech Academy, a specialist robotics education provider engaged to lead the curriculum.

According to the organisers, this final event marked a significant milestone for young women in technology. More than 120 guests - including families, partners and supporters - gathered to honour the achievements of participants, recognise their determination and encourage their continued growth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Throughout the programme, students aged eleven to eighteen took part in hands-on workshops and collaborative projects, building real-world technical expertise and invaluable soft skills. Eleven jurors evaluated their innovative final projects, while the students ("Rookies") showcased cutting-edge technologies and shared insights into their projects.

WeSTEM+ attributed the success of Robotics Rookies in part to financial support from the André Losch Fondation, the National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse - SNJ) and the US Embassy in Luxembourg. Corporate partners further enriched the programme by offering product donations, company visits and job-shadowing opportunities that helped strengthen the connection between education and industry.

"Creating this programme was a significant milestone for me. Watching students as young as twelve take the stage to present their projects showed me that they simply need one opportunity - an opportunity that society too often withholds. I am proud to have been able to ignite that spark within them," said Patricia Souza, co-founder of WeSTEM+ and creator of Robotics Rookies.
